Connect·Connect group FAQ

Where do groups meet?

Groups meet in homes, coffee shops, pubs, and university halls across London. Actual meeting times may vary, but most groups meet weekly.

What happens in a typical group?

Connect groups usually include refreshments and some discussion about understanding, applying and growing in God’s word. We will also pray for any needs people have, simply asking God to help us and expecting Him to answer.

Each group has its own character, but they all seek to help people connect with other people, connect with truth, and connect with God. An effective group will help you develop friendships, grow in understanding of the Bible and grow in relationship with God.

I have small children. Is there a group that can accommodate me?

For couples with small children we have dads’ and mums’ groups that rotate bi-weekly. One week the dads meet and the next week the mums, which enables their spouse to stay home with the children.

There are also mums’ groups that meet during the day in the week, where mothers can bring their children along.

Are these like ‘Bible study’ or ‘life’ groups ?

Connect groups are similar to such groups. However, the aim is not just to know the Word, to know friends, or understand yourself better. The aim of a connect group is to see transformed lives and a transformed world as we grow in understanding of how to apply God’s truth to our lives.

Are connect groups for Bible teaching ?

An effective connect group will help all its members grow in understanding of the Word. However, good groups will be about discussion and exploring truth together, not about creating a miniature version of a Sunday service.

What sort of things does a group learn ?

Group topics and focus varies. Some groups will discuss the previous week’s preaching, some will use video based curriculum, others will use books or study guides, and still others will simply have discussion of some aspect of truth and how it applies to our lives. Sometimes we will have a church-wide series where we encourage all groups to go through the same material, which also ties into the weekend worship service.

Can I bring friends along?

Yes! All connect groups are open to anybody interested in making friends and exploring a relationship with God.

I’m not a Christian, can I come to a connect group?

Definitely yes! Connect groups are designed to be open to all and we would love to see you make friends and explore truth in a group. If you are looking to explore the Christian faith, we’d recommend you start the journey by attending a group that is running the Alpha course – a 10-week introduction to the Christian faith.

My local group doesn’t work for me, can I go to a different one?

Sure. All groups are different and we all feel at home with different people and different environments. If your local group doesn’t seem to work for you, then try out a couple more and find something that works. However, sometimes relationships just take time so we’d encourage you to give it a few weeks and see.

You have not answered my question. Who can I contact?
