Outreach·LoveUkraine missions
One of our mission priorities is to serve in some of the poorest parts of Europe, and since 2007 we have been privileged to send various teams to the Carpathian mountains in Ukraine, near L’viv
Working with the Every Nation congregation in L’viv, we have taken much-needed school supplies, warm winter woolies, snow boots and staple food items to the neediest families in the Carpathian Mountains.
Our teams have also run fantastic summer camps, innumerable games and crafts days, and visited orphanages.
June 2010 LoveUkraine trip feedback
In June 2010 we sent two teams to Ukraine – a building team doing some much-needed repairs to the house where the ministry in the Carpathians is based, and a children’s team who reached out to the local children with skits, crafts and games.
The church gave richly towards the mission. With this, we:
- Bought a trailer for the local church, which enabled us to deliver 100 bags of food to the poorest homes in the Carpathians.
- Paid for a well to be dug at the base house, which had no running water.
- Made the electrics safe – the old tangle of wires were making sparks!
- Improved the river crossing for vehicles to reach the house.
- Paved a walkway to the house where there was once a mud bath.
- Built a new outhouse – luxurious to local standards…
We also presented three kids’ camps, including one at a new village which the local ministry was not able to reach before.
Life in the Carpathians is tough, with most children having to help plant their own food, draw water from a well and heat their homes with firewood. Through the kids’ camps we gave these children the chance to just be kids.
As part of the crafts, they made masks – which many were still wearing two days later, complete with the feathers drooping in the rain.
